THE People Speak
SOLIDARITY TAKES
ALL SHAPES
Solidarity is about responding to generosity, openness and commitment to reshaping a changing world together.
FRIDAYS FOR THE FUTURE
Today we see young and old alike peacefully taking to the streets. They carry signs about the perils of climate change and our need to work for systems change. It’s not just about the weather. It’s about all the ways our lives are tied to money instead of a quality of life that respects nature and our place in it.
Our youth have organized Fridays for the Future. As the name suggests, we can power up our communities together by sharing what we have, giving thanks to nature for her abundance, understanding that nature is a source and not simply a resource, and safeguarding life for our children.
There’s a powerful saying in English: Enough is a feast. We do not need more than we really need and ironically our rampant quest to satisfy desires is driving us towards our own demise.
When we look up into the skies above, everything is there. Rain in the clouds, stars to tune in with our ancestral spirits, winds to soothe the hot rays of the sun, and a moon to light our paths in the darkness of night. Giving gratitude, standing in solidarity with others to protect nature and our ancestral lineage, --this is what brings a smile to our lips and that smile is mirrored in the eyes of all that we see.
“There is no us and them, there is just we.”
